The 9/11 memorial can provide future generations the opportunity to learn about the events in the day, and to visit the survivor cedar and memorial exhibition. My mind keeps drifting to the events of 10 in years past. On 9/10/01, we had no idea that which was to come in just a few hours; that the world as we know it could be literally turned upside straight down. Those structures, they were abdominal muscles epitome of substance. We were looking at built to be sound and were here to remain. We were shook to your foundations when they came down to theirs.

Those were some of the thoughts on my mind when i opened the paper and read about the Gaden Jangtse Buddhist monks who are visiting from Tibet to make a sand mandala at that Pacific Asia Museum with Pasadena. For five days they will take vibrant grains with sand and form these into an intricate image just to sweep it away.

Is a superb such purposeful impermanence is usually alien. Of course we all assume that change is inevitable which nothing stays the same. But that doesn’t means that deep down we don’t try to hold on to what we cherish.

What would motivate people to create something so beautiful with the intention of destroying the idea? I felt compelled to learn more about this tradition; when i did so, I found that the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings I was having about 9/11 began to settle some.

Crouched in the emerging sand design, the monks tediously together with patiently create the sacred patterns of the mandala. For the reason that monks create the sand mandala they also chant Buddhist prayers and perform ceremonies to obtain world peace and compassion.
